Requirements

To complete the eighteen (18) credit-hour minor in American politics, the following two (2) courses are required totaling six (6) credit hours:

  • POLS 110 - American National Government
  • POLS 317 - State and Local Government

Also, students must take any four (4) of the following courses totaling an additional twelve (12) credit hours:

  • POLS 314 - Congress
  • POLS 319 - The Presidency
  • POLS 330 - Political Parties
  • POLS 333 - Politics and Media
  • POLS 335 - Campaigns and Elections
  • POLS 340 - Public Administration
  • POLS 382 - Law and Judicial Process
  • POLS 390 - Special Topics in Politics (with permission of department head)
  • POLS 417 - Southern Politics
  • POLS 442 - Bureacratic Politics
  • POLS 452 - Environmental Politics

A total minimum of 18 credit hours is required.  No more than one D may count toward the minor.  All prerequisites, corequisites and other course restrictions apply.
