ATTENTION STUDENTS OF ANY MAJOR!

Are you looking for a once-in-a-college-career opportunity to see politics and policy as they are being made?  Are you interested in being a part of the exciting developments happening everyday in Washington DC?  If your answer is yes, then please take the time to consider an incredible possibility for one student during the next semester.  The office of United States Republican Representative Geoff Davis as well as the Department of Political Science at the University of Louisiana is proud to announce the creation of the University of Louisiana Political Policy and Leadership Internship.  This competitive and prestigious internship will send one student during each semester to live and work full-time in Washington DC in the Congressional office of Dr. Charles Boustany, the Representative for the 7th district of Louisiana.  The Representative’s office will pay the student $1500 a month for the duration of the fall semester.  In addition, the Department of Political Science will award 12 hours of upper level political science credit for the internship and the research assignments that will accompany it.  Interns will work directly for Boustany’s Chief of Staff, Jeff Dobrozsi, and will also be involved in Constituent Correspondence, Capitol Tours, Administrative Work, Legislative Research, Attendance of Briefings and Hearings, as well as other exciting activities and events in DC.  Interns will be full-time employees of Boustany’s office and will be responsible for their own housing and transportation (though the department representative will help the student to organize these things).  If you are interested in taking advantage of this once-in-a-college-career experience, please fill out the application (available for download and print from the UL political science website—http://pols.louisiana.edu) and return it by October 30th to DC Internship Director, Dr. Ryan Teten in Mouton 119.  Applicants must have at least upper level standing and have a 3.0 GPA.  The individual selected will be notified quickly so that they might make plans for the next semester.  Don’t let this opportunity to practice political science in the real world pass you by.  Please contact Dr. Ryan Teten with any questions at rlt5683@louisiana.edu.
