International Relations Concentration

Recognizing the necessity of preparing our students for life and work in an increasingly global society, this concentration features a major in Political Science but with special emphasis on courses in comparative and international politics. A large number of other courses across the university have a cross-cultural focus and the program draws on those resources. For example, students are required to take World History and World Literature rather than history and literature classes with an American focus. The curriculum also emphasizes Modern Languages, Geography, and Economics to a much greater extent than the regular Political Science Program. Students are encouraged to minor in one of those allied fields or in modern world History. In consultation with the academic advisor, students will also be directed to a variety of electives which deal with other cultures and societies.
